For the second consecutive year, Rivier University is hosting the Nashua Sport Management Summit, in partnership with the Nashua Silver Knights, on Friday, March 14. The summit is open to all high school and college students interested in pursuing a career in the sports industry.
Aspiring sport management professionals will have the opportunity to learn from and build relationships with industry leaders. Following the keynote address by seven-time Emmy Award winning television sports reporter and host Alanna Rizzo, attendees will join panelist sessions that cover a variety of topics, including partnerships, business intelligence and analytics, recruiting, sales and service, event management, and communications.
A longtime contributor to MLB Network’s High Heat with Christopher Russo, Rizzo previously served as an in-game reporter and host for SportsNet LA, covering the Los Angeles Dodgers during the team’s World Series appearances in 2017, 2018, and 2020.
Today, she continues to share her expertise on the Foul Territory platform, appearing on Dodgers Territory and Fair Territory with Ken Rosenthal. In addition to a distinguished broadcasting career, she is also the founder of Guidry’s Guardian Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting dogs in need.
“Last year’s event was a tremendous success, bringing together students and industry leaders for meaningful connections and career insights,” says Dr. Amir Toosi, Rivier’s Dean of Business and Security Studies. “This year, we are excited to build on that momentum, offering aspiring sport management professionals the opportunity to learn from experts across the full spectrum of sports careers.”
Students will also be able to network with top executives and hiring managers from organizations across New England at the Career and Networking Fair, including representatives from the Boston Bruins, Portland Sea Dogs, Connecticut Sun, and the New England Sports Network. Other companies such as CBS Sports, BSN Sports, and The Kraft Group will also attend, providing a wide range of career opportunities for students to explore.
Students enrolled in the B.S. in Sport Management degree program at Rivier are invited to attend the summit. Additionally, sport management students are assisting with the execution of the event, gaining hands-on experience in a variety of marketing, event coordination and facilities operations roles.
“We are excited to partner once again with Rivier and build upon the overwhelming success of last year’s event,” says Cam Cook, General Manager of the Nashua Silver Knights. “We are especially honored to welcome Alanna Rizzo as our keynote speaker and anticipate an engaging and dynamic event that brings together esteemed panelists, industry professionals, and passionate students.”
