The Nashua Silver Knights hosted the Westfield Starfires on Monday night at Historic Holman Stadium and dropped a tight one, 1-0, unable to push a run across despite getting five hits.
Neither team scored through eight innings in a back-and-forth pitchers’ duel. Westfield broke through in the ninth when Morrie Fried singled to center to score Easton Sanders and hand the Knights the loss.
Lucas Collins (University of Dayton) was sharp in his start, tossing 4 shutout innings with 6 strikeouts. Josh Florence (Stonehill), Colten Shaffer (Millersville), and Aaron Forgues (Hobart College) each added scoreless innings in relief. Sachin Gopal (U.S. Naval Academy) took the loss, allowing the game’s only run in the ninth.
The Silver Knights fall to 7-10 as the Starfires improve to 9-9. Nashua hits the road tomorrow night to take on the Lowell Spinners at 7:00 pm.
