The Nashua Silver Knights hosted the Lowell Spinners on Tuesday night at Historic Holman Stadium, getting back in the win column with a 6-2 victory.
The Spinners drew first blood in the third inning on a Cal Chance RBI single, but the Knights answered immediately with an AJ Kolb (Towson) sacrifice fly to tie it at 1.
Nashua took control in the sixth when Peter Keblinsky (University of Southern Maine) reached on a Lowell error, plating Nate Kearney (Stonehill) and Connor Smith (Gannon) to make it 3-1. The Knights put the game away in the seventh on a Hudson Story (Bryant) sacrifice fly, a Connor Smith RBI single, and a Nate Kearney RBI single, pushing the lead to 6-1. Lowell added a run in the ninth on a Max Diamond RBI double, but it was too little too late.
Cam Piwnicki (Brown) was strong in his start, allowing just 1 unearned run over 4.2 innings with 4 strikeouts. Sachin Gopal (U.S. Naval Academy) picked up the win in relief. Colten Shaffer (Millersville) and Brandon Metivier (Bellarmine) each tossed scoreless innings to keep the Spinners at bay.
The Silver Knights improve to 6-7 as the Spinners fall to 3-9. Nashua hits the road Thursday night to take on the Westfield Starfires at 6:30 pm.
