On Friday night, the Silver Knights welcomed fans into Historic Holman Stadium for the final time in 2024. Out of playoff contention and a road trip to Vermont set for the season's final games meant it was the last chance for the boys of summer to give the home faithful a show.

Not only did the Silver Knights give the fans an amazing performance, but they sent them home early. 

Nashua put together a resounding 14-4 mercy rule victory in seven innings over New Britain, finishing their final homestand with back-to-back wins. Northeastern’s AJ Aschettino led the way with four RBI in the win, as the Knights posted a double-digit run total for the second straight Firework Friday.

It wasn’t all good vibes inside Holman, with the Bees getting to Northeastern’s Andrew Rogavic in the first inning for two runs. However, the Knights responded quickly with one in the bottom half and three in the second.

Once a first-inning concern, the night turned into cruise control for NSK. A seven-spot from Nashua was the true nail in the coffin with Central Michigan’s Drew Loikits and SNHU’s Shane McNamara posting two RBIs behind Aschettino’s four.

After Rogavic, Colby’s Tom Rioux came in for the long relief role and shined. Rioux, the two-year Silver Knight, tossed three innings on just one hit and no earned runs dazzled to cap off his swiss-army-knife of a season for the Nashua bullpen.

New Britain added two in the sixth to make it 13-4 and put the mercy on hold, but Aschettino wrapped up his highlight night with an RBI “walk-off” double to give the Knights the shortened win.

The team emptied onto the field to celebrate the win, relishing the final moments at Holman Stadium this summer. Kids ran the bases and the weekly Friday Fireworks commenced, with families and friends then taking the field for photos and postgame celebrations.

Nashua will end their 14th season without a playoff appearance, but the future is bright with young talent on the cusp of a playoff spot this summer. Looking towards 2025, the Silver Knights will begin the next march to a possible seventh title. But until then, the famous gates of Historic Holman Stadium will close up until next May.

Now on the road for the final two, the Silver Knights will drive up to Vermont for two over the weekend. Nashua and the Lake Monsters are set for a 6:05 PM first pitch on Saturday.
