Just days after a three-game win streak, the Silver Knights now find themselves on the opposite side of the spectrum with a 3-1 Saturday loss in Vermont marking their third straight defeat.

A one-run offensive performance was the pitfall of Nashua’s loss, with the Knights pushing across only one run for the second time in the last three games. Both teams put up five hits a piece, but the Knights’ lead in the left-on-base column 10-6 was ultimately the difference. Along with the disparity, Nashua’s one through five hitters went a combined 0-18 on the night.

Saint Anselm’s Jared Reminder took the bump for NSK, making his first start and third appearance of the summer. Reminder allowed two in the first via a two-RBI single from Saint Josephs’ Joey Gale but quickly dialed in soon after, tossing three scoreless innings on only one hit in the following frames. A solid outing for the righty senior in his debut as a starter.

Trinity’s Brandon Morio troubled the Knights through the first four innings before the Nashua bats found their pulse. In the sixth, Richmond’s Brady O’Brien led off with a free pass to first via hit-by-pitch as he worked his way around the bases. A Vermont pitch in the dirt that caught a bad bounce was enough for O’Brien to dart home, cutting the lead in half 2-1.

Following the run, the Knights' offense was not done making noise. UMass Lowell’s Scott Donahue and Pace’s Ben Tullo laced singles along with a walk from Siena’s Jeff Valdez, all coming with two outs. 

Keene State’s Tommy Ahlers stepped into the box with the bases loaded. A golden moment and pivotal situation that felt similar to the night prior, where the Knights left the bases full in the eighth in a tied ball game before Vermont pulled away in the 10-7 loss. This time around, Ahlers looked to rewrite the story.

Despite having the June Player of the Month and team RBI leader up this time around, the script remained the same with Ahlers unable to beat out a ground ball to third in time as the Lake Monsters escaped the jam.

Vermont added one more run in the next half-inning, as the Knights were held hitless in the final three innings.
