After a week where the Silver Knights could do no wrong, Nashua found themselves on the short end of the stick in a 5-3 loss to Norwich.

For every Nashua rally that started to brew, the Sea Unicorns quickly snuffed it out. Norwich responded to Nashua's one-run half-innings in the sixth and ninth to keep their lead at two for the majority of the ballgame.

Northeastern’s Cam Keaveney pitched well in his first start of the season for Nashua, tossing four scoreless innings to open up the game. Rutgers’ Owen Carey wasted no time opening up the scoring with a solo blast in the first. Carey’s second homer in as many nights gave the Knights the momentum right from the jump.

It was all Nashua through four before Keaveney ran into trouble in the fifth. A lead-off single from Fairfield’s Nick Sturino and a walk set up Norwich to attack, with two costly Nashua errors in the inning giving the Sea Unicorns the lead 2-1. Galveston’s MD Connor capped off the inning with an RBI single, with all three runs coming unearned.

Now down 3-1, Nashua looked to stage another Holman comeback. Endicott’s TJ Liponis brought home the Knights’ second run, but Norwich answered right back on an RBI single from UAB’s Christian Stratis.

AIC’s Anderson Cuello Batista and Dayton’s Ben Dean delivered solid performances trying to hold off Norwich into the later innings. On the other side, Nashua went down quietly in the sixth and seventh still down two.

Down to their final four outs after two down in the eighth, Northeastern’s Will Fosberg came off the bench and stung a ball off the first base for a two-out double to prolong the inning. Stonehill’s Nate Kearney followed the pinch hitter Fosberg with an RBI single to make the score 5-4 and amp up the Holman crowd.

On the cusp of potentially their third late-game comeback in the last four games, Nashua sent Dean back out to try and get them to the bottom half. Dean got two quick outs as anticipation started to grow, but a solo shot off the outfield billboards from Sacred Heart’s Peter Link silenced the Holman hopes with Norwich back on top 5-3.

Nashua went down quietly in the bottom of the ninth, falling to 12-15 on the season. With games against New Britain and Vermont up next on the docket, the Silver Knights will look to get back in the win column in some high-stakes matchups for the FCBL standings. Nashua and the Bees are set for a 6:35 PM first pitch in Connecticut on Thursday.
