Bats Explode, Nashua Thumps Brockton 13-6Saturday, June 15, 2024 By: Dan Allison | Silver Knights media relations Offensive efficiency had been a thorn in the Silver Knights’ side all week, leaving runners on base in low-scoring losses. Sitting at 1-2 on the week, Nashua alleviated their woes with a massive 13-run performance on Saturday night. Seven different Knights recorded RBIs with a six-run second inning allowing them to run away with the win 13-6. Nashua posted runs in six of the nine innings as Saturday night at Campanelli Stadium quickly turned into a clinic at the plate. Pace’s Ben Tullo had his best game of the summer so far with two hits and three RBI. Keene State’s Tommy Ahlers and Penn State’s Adin Zorn also joined Tullo with multi-RBI nights. Thanks to some late-game substitutions, 10 Silver Knights tallied hits in this contest with six of them putting together multi-hit nights. Zorn had three hits alongside his two RBIs with Stonehill’s Nate Kearney, Lehigh’s Andrew Noone, Central Michigan’s Drew Loikits, and Ahlers all having two-hit nights. On the mound, the large lead out of the gate gave Nashua’s arms some breathing room to operate. Colby’s Derek Woods put together a quality four innings in his fourth start of the season, striking out six on just one earned run. Assumption’s Mike Crowley and Rhode Island’s Jake Cullen combined for three innings of scoreless baseball out of the bullpen, with Cullen giving up no hits as Crowley struck out three. Some Nashua miscues and unearned runs let Brockton inch back into the ballgame, but Brown’s Stiles Begnaud finally closed the door on the huge win with three strikeouts in the ninth. A much-needed night for the offense brought the Silver Knights win number six on the season, two games back of Vermont as they try to climb back up the standings ladder. To cap off their week, the Silver Knights will return to Holman to face the Road Warriors on Sunday afternoon. First pitch is set for 3:00 PM. |
