Nashua Falls Short to Bees 4-2Wednesday, June 11, 2024 By: Dan Allison | Silver Knights media relations It was another day of “what could’ve been” for the Silver Knights offense, leaving 14 men on base with nine of them in scoring position. A solid pitching performance from the Nashua staff tried to hold off the Bees, but New Britain eventually prevailed 4-2. It took the Silver Knights til the seventh inning to crack the scoreboard despite out-hitting the Bees nine to six. Endicott’s TJ Liponis cashed in on his first RBIs of the season with a two-run single in the seventh frame, but it was “too little too late” for the Knights offense. Colby’s Tom Rioux struck out four in four innings in his first official start of the summer, but New Britain stole two runs off him in the middle frames. Two runs later of Rivier’s Nolan Mederos was all the Bees needed to cruise to a comfortable win. Keene State’s Tommy Ahlers and Lehigh’s Andrew Noone contributed two-hit days, with seven of the nine Silver Knights getting hits on Wednesday. Despite the success in the hit department, it didn’t result on the scoreboard with Salve Regina’s James Tobin tossing five scoreless frames for the Bees. After a productive last couple games offensively for the Silver Knights, a lackluster Wednesday night in Connecticut has the team looking back to the drawing board. Nashua will look to get back on track with a home game against Worcester on Thursday night. First pitch between the Bravehearts and Silver Knights is set for 6:00 PM |
