Bees Cruise by Nashua 9-0Bees Cruise by Nashua 9-0
Friday, June 7, 2024 By: Dan Allison | Silver Knights media relations NASHUA, NH - Friday night spelled trouble once again for the Silver Knights, falling to the New Britain Bees in a 9-0 loss. Pitching troubles and minimal offensive output hurt Nashua’s chances, being shut out for the first time this season. An offense that caught fire just a week ago found themselves at a loss, being held to just four hits for the second straight game. In Nashua’s last 18 innings, the Knights have posted runs in just three of them with their lineup being held to just one run through seven innings in a loss against the Rox. Rutgers’s Owen Carey and Lehigh’s Andrew Noone tried to get the offense, both recording hits in the two and three spots in the order. Carey added three walks to his name as well, reaching base in each of his four at-bats. Aside from their two bats, nothing else got going for the lineup. Nashua struck out 13 times, leaving seven on base in the process. Wheaton’s Ben Oliveira pitched well for the Bees, giving up only one hit in six innings in his second win of the summer. Nashua did not find the same success on the mound. Southern Maine’s Jason Libby struggled in his first start of the season, giving up three earned in four innings as he earned the loss. Six New Britain hitters tallied multi-hit games in a clinic by the Bees. Assumption’s Mike Crowley and Wake Forest’s Andrew Koshy pitched well out of the pen, holding off New Britain in the middle innings to maintain a 3-0 deficit. It wouldn’t be until the eighth that trouble would arise again, as the Knights gave up a four spot in the eighth and two in the ninth. Looking to avenge their tough loss, the Silver Knights will get another shot at the Bees with a Saturday trip to New Britain. Nashua and the Bees are set for a 6:35 PM first pitch. |
