Back-to-back games with uninspiring performances from the Nashua offense now pinned the Knights in a tough spot, trying to avoid their 20th loss of the season and their third straight loss. But after just only posting three hits as a team on Thursday, Nashua would once again slump at the plate in a 5-2 loss to Norwich.

In similar fashion to the loss against Vermont, Nashua and Norwich were two tales of completely different offensives. Norwich would outhit the Knights 14-5, with eight of the nine Sea Unicorns recording hits. Four Unicorns tallied two hits on the day, with Fairfield’s Dean Ferrara leading the charge with a 3-5 performance.

For Nashua, their lineup held a lot of zeroes in the box score. Eleven strikeouts on the day for the Knights, with only four hitters recording hits. Endicott’s Dylan Pacheco brought his A-game, going 2-2 with two walks. Westmont’s Liam Critchett recorded the lone RBI for Nashua, with an RBI double to give him back-to-back games with RBIs.

Stonehill’s Braydon Gray earned the loss in his fourth start for Nashua, struggling on the bump early. After scoring the first run of the game in the first, Norwich pulled away with a four-run third. New Haven’s Andrew Bianco and Rhode Island’s DJ Perron both homered in the inning with Bianco’s coming as a two-run shot.

Norwich’s four-run frame would be enough to coast to the finish, tossing six scoreless innings as a team. Nashua’s staff did a great job stopping the bleeding as Northeastern’s Ryan Griffin and Rhode Island’s Brandon Hsu combined for five scoreless frames.

Despite the great performances out of the pen, Nashua’s cold bats were too much to overcome. Nashua would get one back on a passed ball in the ninth after Pacheco led the inning off with a double. Besides the Dylan double, the Knights went quietly into the stormy for their third straight loss.

Now sitting at 7-20, Nashua will try and rewrite their wrongs on the road on Saturday. Westfield will host the Silver Knights on Saturday night for a 6:30 PM first pitch.
