A five-game losing streak for the Knights left Nashua dire for a trip back to the win column. Following a 20-1 loss to Westfield to forget, the Silver Knights looked to finally ace their next test with the Brockton Rox coming to town. On Education Day at Holman Stadium, the Knights treated the fans with a memorable field trip in a 6-2 victory.

Stevens Institute’s Erik Sabbach made his second start in a Nashua uniform and did not disappoint. Struggling against the Rox in his first outing, Sabbach put class in session with a six-inning, two-hit masterful performance.

While Sibbach threw up zeroes on the board, Nashua’s offense was no longer tardy to the ballpark. Eastern Nazarene’s Shane McNamara started the offensive recess for Nashua, smoking an opposite-field two-run shot for his first homer of the year.

Colby Sawyer’s Cam Carignan kept the roll call going for Nashua’s lineup on a 10-hit, six-run afternoon. Carignan went 3-3 with two RBI, his best game so far in a Knight uniform. Six of the nine starting Knights tallied a hit, in the offense’s best game so far.

Besides active bats at the plate, Nashua also brought their gloves to the ballfield. An outstanding diving catch by New England College’s Luca Giallongo in the center and an outfield assist from McNamara at the plate highlighted an error-free Wednesday for the Knights.

Assumption’s Alex Meesig took over after Sibbach’s strong six, picking up right where he left off. Nashua’s own threw two strong frames before running into trouble in the ninth, giving up two to the Rox to break the shutout. New England College’s Corey O’Day came in to get the final two outs and send the buses home, getting two flyouts to close out Nashua’s first home win of 2023.

Getting back into the win column, the Knights will look to keep the momentum after their off-day on Thursday with a Friday home matchup against New Britain. Unveiling their 2022 championship rings pregame, Nashua and the Bees are set for a 6:00 PM first pitch on Friday.
