Starfires Wallop KnightsTuesday, May 30, 2023 By: Dan Allison | Silver Knights media relations Another day, another tough outing for the Silver Knights. Westfield came into Holman Stadium for the first time in 2023 and wasted no time getting to work, trouncing the Knights 20-1. In a similar theme to their past losses, Nashua got in their own way with errors and sloppy play. Nichols’s Brandon Metivier took the hill for his second start of the season, having a tough outing due to said miscues. Seven runs came across with Metivier throwing, but only one was earned on three hits in one and ⅓ innings. With a 7-0 lead after two, the lights were already out for the red and black. Westfield piled on in a nine-run third to put things out of reach early. Merrimack’s Frankie Ferrentino led the charge with a four-hit, four-RBI night with four other Starfires tallying two RBIs a piece. On the other side, Nashua’s offense left much to desire once again. Only three hits on the night for the Knights, being held to one or fewer runs for the third straight game. Luca Giallongo went 1-3 with a walk, getting aboard three times at the top of the order on an error (arguably an infield single) in the first. Mount St. Marys’s Shane Wockley and Colby Sawyer’s Cam Carignan both posted hits as well in Tuesday’s outing. Westfield kept their foot on the pedal, eventually stretching their total to 20 runs on the night. Nashua stayed at one on the scoreboard, with the mercy rule in effect after the seventh. After five straight games dropped, Nashua looks to get back on track with an early morning matchup with the Rox. Brockton will come into town to face the Knights at 10:30 AM Wednesday.
