Hearts Top KnightsFriday, May 26, 2023 By: Dan Allison | Silver Knights media relations After stops in Pittsfield and Brockton, the Silver Knights would finish their expedition across Massachusetts in Worcester on Friday. Nashua would have to go through the Bravehearts on the road before returning back north for their home opener. Trying to carry momentum after a win in Brockton, the Knights were blanked by Worcester’s pitching in a 5-0 loss. Southern Maine’s Clay Robbins got the start for Worcester, delivering six innings of dominant pitching. Robbins would end his night with eight strikeouts on only two hits, leaving the Silver Knights looking for answers. On the bump for Nashua was Erik Sibbach, a sophomore out of Stevens Institute. Walks became an issue early for Sibbach and the Knights, loading the bases on balls in the first. All it took was one wild pitch and a single later for the Bravehearts to capitalize, taking a 3-0 lead in the first. An early first-inning lead was all Worcester needed to run away with this one, behind the strong pitching of Gibbons and the bullpen keeping up where he picked off. A bright spot in what was a tough night for the Silver Knights was Eastern Nazarene’s Shane McNamara. McNamara went 3-3, making up for almost 50% of Nashua’s hits. Londonderry’s homegrown kid is hitting .600 with four RBI this season. Shane is already building quite the resume at the plate, and he hasn’t even stepped into the box at Holman Stadium yet.
For the rest of the lineup, the same cannot be said. Only two hits across the other eight hitters with 14 strikeouts on the nights. While Nashua stayed silent, Worcester tacked on two more runs to eventually end with a 5-0 victory Worcester might have ended the Knights’ road trip on a sour note, but the Bravehearts now have to travel up to Nashua to play the Knights on their home turf. Historic Holman Stadium will open its gates for the first time since a sixth championship came to town, as 67 Amherst Street looks to be rocking for their reigning champs. |
