Orlando Shows Power, Merrimack Boys Earn 2 Saves

VCU: Shortstop Connor Hujsak continued his impressive freshman campaign this past week as VCU took on William & Mary in the 3-game series. Hujsak hit .273 in the series with 2 doubles and 2 RBI. VCU swept the series and improved their record to 12-10.

Elon: The Phoenix had a week full of strong opponents. Starting with Wake Forest. Freshman Tristan Corcoran took the mound for his 6th relief appearance of the year. Corcoran tossed 1 inning and gave up 1 run, while striking out a batter in the tight loss. Elon would go on to win 1 of 2 games over the weekend against #8 East Carolina.

Merrimack: The Warriors had themselves a good weekend as they took 2 of 3 games from Long Island University. Both wins in the series featured multiple innings saves from Silver Knight pitching. In game 1, Jake Thibault tossed 4 innings out of the bullpen to earn the save and help Merrimack close out the win. He scattered 5 hits and three strikeouts without allowing LIU to score. In Game 2 it was Timmy Kalantzakos that would shut the door for the Warriors. He threw 3 innings, allowing one earned run, and struck out a batter to earn the save.

Maryland: The Terps faced two conference opponents this past weekend, one being Iowa, and the other was Ohio State. In the combined series, Matt Orlando saw early success as he hit .400 on the weekend as he launched his 2nd homer of the season and also recorded a pair of RBI. Outfielder Logan Ott also recorded 2 hits and a pair of runs in the series. The Terps would be swept by Iowa before splitting their series with Ohio State

Nichols: Conference play in the CCC opened up this past weekend, as Nichols took on Roger Williams. In game 2 of the series, Robbie Cobb would come in out of the bullpen for his 2nd appearance of the young season. Cobb recorded the 2 outs asked of him, while allowing 1 run and 1 hit.
