Knights Lose 4th Straight

(Nashua, NH): Viewers on NESN were treated to an entertaining game on Saturday afternoon at
Holman Stadium. The Silver Knights fell against the North Shore Navigators 4-3, their 4 th
consecutive loss. Nashua is now ahead of Brockton by just 1 game for the second playoff spot.
The Knights struck in the first inning as Troy Schreffler (Maryland) lead off the game with a loud
triple to left field. He would score on a Nick Shumski (Merrimack) groundout. The Navs would
tie the game in the 5 th , as Jake McElroy (Holy Cross) doubled home Jack Whorf (UMass).
North Shore would add 3 more in the 6 th , as Cam Climo hit the deciding 3-run home run to left
field off Chris Chaney (Maryland). Nashua added 2 in the 7 th , as Ben Rounds (Harvard) advanced
to 3 rd on a Max Viera (Northeastern) single and scored on an ensuing error. Shumski would
single home Schreffler later in the inning.
Griffin Young (Wheaton) took the loss for the Knights in his second start, although he was
superb through 5, giving up 3ER on 3H, 2BB, and 8K while lowering his ERA to 2.10. 2 of his 3
runs were inherited runners who scored on the Climo home run given up by Chaney. Cedric
Gillette (Merrimack) picked up the win for the Navs, he also went 5 innings, giving up 1ER on
3H, 2BB, and 4K. Derek Goldrick (Quinnipiac) picked up the save for the visitors.
The Knights stand at 20-16, now 2.5 games behind Worcester for the top spot. Attention has
shifted to securing the final championship spot. With a win against Brockton on Sunday, the
Knights would clinch a 5-4 tie breaker with the Rox, as well as a playoff spot as they would hold
a 2-game lead on Brockton with 2 games to play for each team. Nashua finishes the regular
season by hosting North Shore Tuesday at 6PM, before traveling to Westfield on Wednesday.
