Knights Take Down Navs Again

They racked up 16 hits on Wednesday en-route to a 13-5 victory over the North Shore Navigators. The Knights pick up a game on Worcester, as the Bravehearts fell in New Britain, now 1.5 games behind for the top spot.

Nashua would jump out to an early 1-0 lead in the first, as Dylan Jones (Franklin Pierce) reached via FC and would score on a single, the first of 5 hits by John Mead (Franklin Pierce), who was named FCBL Player of the Night. In the 4th, the Knights added six more runs. Dom Keegan (Vandy Boys) would lead off with a walk, before Mead hit his 3rd home run of the summer. Lucas Stalman (Boston College) would reach on an error, later scoring on Mike Rounds’ (UMass-Amherst) second home run of the season. Nick Perkins (Endicott) and Tom Crowley (Merrimack) would single, before scoring on a 2-run error by the Navigators infield during Nick Shumski’s (Merrimack) at-bat. In the 5th, Nashua would put the game away by scoring three more runs. Mead lead off the inning with a double, and Rounds would later walk before Perkins got in on the home run parade with his first of the year.

Down 9-0, North Shore would gain some ground. Ben Malgeri (Northeastern) would walk and then score on a single by Logan Bravo (Harvard) in the 5th. The next inning, Ryan Turenne would hit a solo shot to cut the lead to 9-2. In the 7th, the Navs got two more back. Cody Morissette (Boston College) would walk, Bravo would double, and Sean Lawlor (Maine) walked to load the bases with one out. Alex Brickman (Dayton) would be hit by a pitch, scoring Morissette and Turenne would ground out to first, scoring Bravo. North Shore would finish their scoring in the eighth, when Juan Martinez (NMJC) walked and scored on a Ryan Cervone (Northeastern) double.

The Silver Knights would tack on three insurance runs in the ninth. Rounds singled to right field, then a Perkins single and Max Viera (Northeastern) walk loaded the bases. Rounds scored on a Jones walk, followed by a 2-RBI single from Brett Anderson (Hartford).

Gabe Driscoll (Binghamton) picked up his second win of the summer, while also lowering his ERA to 1.17. He went 1.2 innings, only giving up one run on a hit with 4K. The lone hit was a solo home run by Ryan Turenne (Maine) in the sixth. Nate Espelin (Dayton) was tagged with the loss for the Navs, his final line was 3.1IP, 5R, 3ER, 1BB and 3K.
