Brockton Posts 12 in Slugfest, Nashua Falls 12-5Saturday, July 27, 2024 By: Dan Allison | Silver Knights media relations This past week has been a boxing match between the Silver Knights and Rox, with the two facing off five times in the past seven games. On Saturday at Holman, Brockton took this round of the ‘bout. After Nashua took the Friday meeting 10-5, the Rox responded with their double-digit performance in a 12-5 slugfest. The two teams scrapped back and forth with the bats in the early innings, combining for 10 runs in the first three frames. Brockton scored one in the fourth to take a 6-5 lead, never looking back with the Knights going silent in the next six frames. On the bump, Assumption’s Alex Meesig struggled in his second appearance and first start of the season. Three runs in the first and two in the second packed a punch from the Rox offense, setting the tempo early. Roger Williams James Nichols got the start for Brockton, as the Silver Knights were also able to get to Brockton’s first arm. A four-run first with RBIs from SNHU’s Shane McNamara, Richmond’s Brady O’Brien, and Minnesota’s Jake Elbeery. Nashua was able to hold off Brockton on the scoreboard, but the lineup did them no favors. After the five runs early, the Knights were no-hit for the rest of the game due to Nichols settling in and Stonehill’s Josh Florence giving four strong innings out of the ‘pen. It was 6-5 through six before the wheels started to come off for the Knights, with a Brockton four-run inning being the nail in the coffin. The weekend series now sits at 1-1, with the rubber match due up tomorrow. Nashua and the Rox are set for a 3:00 PM afternoon first pitch at Holman. |
