Thursday presented a great opportunity for the Silver Knights to bust out of their Wednesday struggles. Problems in all facets of the game the night prior set up Nashua for a loss against the Lake Monsters, as the Knights sought answers for their doubleheader with the Bees.

New Britain would not be an easy task for the Knights, with this Bees squad battling to hold onto the fourth and final playoff spot. Coming off a win on Wednesday against Pittsfield, New Britain would run through Nashua with a doubleheader sweep 3-1 and 11-7.

Game one and game two would be different stories for the Knights, with an offensive no-show in the opening matchup and a pitching breakdown in the nightcap.

Nashua would only post four hits in game one, with the one through five hitters combining for a tough 0 for 13 with three strikeouts. With Colby’s Thomas Rioux tossing six innings on three runs, this was a game that definitely was in the Knights’ reach.

In game two, the bats would wake up to contribute. Nashua and New Britain would battle back and forth in the first few frames, tied at 4-4 after four innings. Yet despite the resurrected offense, it would be the pitching that would fail to deliver for NSK.

Three different arms for the Knights would give up three or more earned runs in game two, allowing the Bees to reach double digits in what would end up as an 11-7 loss. A four-run New Britain sixth put the nail in the coffin for the Knights, dropping two games in one day.

Not being able to piece it all together, the Knights will look to try and get back to a winning formula with three games left on their docket. Nashua will return to Historic Holman Stadium tomorrow night for a meeting with Brockton. Knights - Rox is set for a 6:00 PM first pitch on Friday.
