Following an 8-4 win in Vermont to end their road trip, Nashua looked to piece together a winning streak entering the final week of the season. As the Lake Monsters came into Historic Holman Stadium fresh off the Nashua loss, the Knights tried to replicate Tuesday night’s result. 

Vermont, battling for first place with Worcester, would get their payback for Tuesday’s loss with a 6-3 win in Nashua. Wednesday night was a tough one for the red and black, with a lot of errors and tough plays leaving the Knights behind the 8-ball.

Scoring six in the first five innings, the Lake Monsters started to run away early in this one. Vermont had Stonehill’s Braydon Gray’s number in his ninth appearance of the summer, giving up all six on six hits in four and a ⅔. 

On offense, the Silver Knight offense had trouble getting started. With just two hits in the first five frames, it looked like Vermont would pull away with this one in a no-contest. Amherst’s Jack McDermott would get Nashua on the board in the third, breaking the shutout with a 6-1 score through five. 

SNHU’s Parker Lendrum would do a great job out of the bullpen for Nashua, doing damage control for the Knights. Lendrum, in his Silver Knight debut, pitched three and a ⅓ scoreless innings with only two hits to his tally.

SNHU’s Kyle Lavigne would single home a run in the sixth to make it 6-2 and with back-to-back hits to open up the eighth, hopes started to rise inside Holman. Eastern Nazarene’s Shane McNamara, who was 0-3 up to that point, would get in the hit column in a major way with an RBI single to make it 6-3.

Now in a three-run hole and runners on first and second with just one out, the Knights were on the verge of making things interesting. Alas, the Knights would squander the chance with SNHU’s Nater Wachter getting doubled up on the base paths to end the frame. A play symbolic of how the night was going for NSK.

Nashua would go out quietly in the ninth and fall 6-3, now losing their last six of eight. Looking to get back to the win column, the Knights will head to New Britain for a doubleheader on Thursday. Nashua and the Bees are set for a 4:35 PM game one first pitch.
