In their second doubleheader in as many days, the Nashua Silver Knights lost game one 10-7 and took the second game 3-2 against the Westfield Starfires on Friday evening.

 

Pitching led the way in the game two win, with Nashua starter Wyatt Scotti going 4.2 innings and giving up only one hit. Scotti, who was making his season debut, walked three and struck out six.

 

The bullpen, well rested from two seven-inning games in Thursday’s doubleheader against the Pittsfield Suns, combined to pitch 2.2 innings and gave up only one run. Aidan Crowley lowered his season ERA to 1.17 while Ryan Murphy earned his first save of the season.

 

Nashua scored two of its three runs in the first inning, when a leadoff hit by pitch followed by back-to-back doubles from Logan Ott and Kyle Hannon gave Nashua an early lead.

 

In the bottom of the seventh, the Starfields made the game close with its own leadoff hit by pitch that came around to score on a wild pitch and single, but Nashua was able to close the game out.

 

Hannon led the way offensively with a double and single, while Nate Goranson chipped in with a single and walk. Ott had a double of his own.

 

In game one, the offense came together for seven hits and five walks, striking out only five times. Craig Corliss had two hits while Tyler Gonzalez scored three with a bases-clearing double.

 

In his second start of the season, Timmy Kalantzakos struggled, giving up four runs in three innings. In his first outing, Kalantzakos didn’t get out of the third inning, allowing nine baserunners.

 

The bullpen was similarly taxed. Graham Jeffries, Zach Gitschier and Joe Nastasi combined for five earned runs over three innings of work, walking four four and striking out three.

 

The Silver Knights will return home and take on the Norwich Sea Unicorns on Saturday, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 pm.
