Arms Pick Up 2 Wins, Save

Merrimack: The Warrior arms were once again out to play this past week. Starting in their non-conference matchup vs regional powerhouse Northeastern. LT Pare saw the bump in some relief action against the Huskies, he tossed an inning out of the bullpen, allowing 1 run. In the Conference slate, Timmy Kalantzakos came out of the pen in Game 2 against FDU. He did enough to earn himself the W on the day, going 2 innings and allowing 1 run. In Game 3, it would be righty Jake Thibault that came in to slam the door. He got the old 4 out save to win the series for Merrimack, striking out a batter in the process. The Save was Thibault’s 3rd of the season.

Northeastern: The Huskies keep on rolling along, now on a 9-game winning streak and still undefeated in conference play at 7-0. This week was highlighted by the young arm, Wyatt Scotti, who earned himself 2 starts on the week. The first coming against Merrimack, where he went 2 innings, allowing 1 run and striking out 3. He would take the bump once again later in the week to face conference opponent Delaware. Scotti hurled 6 innings and once again allowed just 1 run. He struck out 5 batters in the No Decision. The Huskies are now 19-6 on the year, and Scotti currently sports a 3-1 record with a 1.71 era.

Maryland: The Terps swept conference opponent Ohio State this past weekend, putting their season record at 16-13. Matt Orlando got some action in the series, going 1-3 with a walk in Game 2.

VCU: It was a short week for the Rams, who picked up the win in their lone game of the week over Virginia. Freshman shortstop Connor Hujsak singled in his only at bat this week, giving himself an even 20 hits in his freshman campaign.

First Baseman Dylan O’Sullivan got his first action in the series. Over the 4 games he drove in 2 runs, scored 2 runs himself, and drew 2 walks. The top 25 team keeps their record at an impressive 14-2.

#21 Wheaton (MA): The Lyons picked up 2 more wins this weekend, moving their record to 8-2 and 3-1 in the conference. Righty Griffin Young was once again dealing, as he went 5 innings, allowing 1 run, and striking out 7 Coast Guard hitters. Young picked up the Win, moving him to 3-0 on the year with an even 2.00 era.
