Comeback Kids Strike Again, Register 20th Win

(New Britain, CT): In their second and final trip to New Britain Stadium, the Silver Knights saved
fireworks for the 9 th inning, as they rallied after being down 8-5 and pulled off a 9-8 victory on
Tuesday night, despite leaving 18 men on base throughout the game. Nashua (20-12) has seven
games remaining in the regular season, and four at home.

The offense remains hot for the Knights, as they registered 19 hits on Tuesday, although only
two were extra-base hits. Things got dicey for Nashua as they gave up 5 in the second, an error
and two balks would prolong the inning. A Zach Donahue (UConn) 3-run home run highlighted
the inning for the Bees. Nashua would get three back in the 5 th to make it 6-4. Dom Keegan
(Vandy Boys) would walk and score on a Dylan Jones (Franklin Pierce) RBI-single. Jones and John
Mead (Franklin Pierce) would both score on Luke Beckstein’s (Kansas State) 2-RBI single. In the
6 th , Jones again singled home Keegan to make the score 6-5. The Bees got 2 back in the 7 th on
RBI singles from Kyle Brennan (Endicott) and Mike Caruso (Fairfield).

The ninth inning is where the late-game offense yet again came to be for Nashua. Troy
Schreffler led off the inning with a 2-strike single, before Nick Shumski (Merrimack) hit a home
run to bring the Knights within one at 8-7. Mead would hit a ground-rule double and be pinch-
run for by Tom Crowley (Merrimack). Jones would come through again, singling barely fair past
the 3 rd base bag to score Crowley and tie the game at 8. Max Viera (Northeastern) would run for
Jones. Ben Rounds (Harvard) singled, moving Viera to second before Beckstein faced new Bees
pitcher Kyle Menaker (Albany) and singled to left which would score Viera and give the Knights
the lead. Jones finished 5-6 with 3RBI, Beckstein and Brady Day (Kansas State) both finished 3-6
with 3 and 1RBIs respectively.

Shaun Cormier picked up the win for Nashua, pitching the 8 th and giving up 2 hits and no runs.
Ben Talbot (Holy Cross) was given the loss for the Bees, giving up 4ER on 5H in 0.2 innings.
Brandon Dufault (Northeastern) made his second appearance since returning from injury, and
picked up his first save of the season, giving up one hit and striking out one. Nashua Starter Josh
Roberge gave up 6R, but only one was earned.
