The Nashua Silver Knights traveled to Fitton Field on Sunday afternoon and dropped a back-and-forth game to the Worcester Bravehearts 14-10 in a contest that featured 30 combined hits and 24 runs.
Nashua got on the board in the third when Peter Keblinsky (University of Southern Maine) singled home Hunter Troiano (Gannon), and added another in the fourth on a Phoenix Williams (Mount St. Mary’s) RBI single. Worcester erupted for three in the third and built a 4-2 lead before the Knights took over in the sixth with seven runs. Williams drove in two, Mason Wilson (Penn State) singled home one, and Caleb Vacchiano (University of Southern Maine) followed with a two-run single before two more scored on wild pitches, pushing the lead to 10-4.
The Bravehearts answered with four in the sixth on a Jacob Malfant (UConn) two-run home run and a Jeylem Sepulveda (Louisiana Tech) sacrifice fly, then took the lead for good in the seventh with six more runs. Jake Yang (Northwestern) added two RBI, Brayden Cali (UMass Lowell) singled home two, and Hunter St. Denis (University of Maine) capped the inning with a two-run home run to make it 14-10.
Josh Florence (Stonehill) started and allowed 4 runs over 3.1 innings. Shaun Marsh Jr (Framingham State), Abe Anderson (Nichols), and Jake Acker (Wesleyan) each appeared in relief. Neil MacKinnon (Brown) took the loss, allowing 4 runs in the seventh.
The Silver Knights fall to 21-28 as the Bravehearts improve to 25-23. Nashua hits the road tomorrow night to take on the New Britain Bees at 6:35 pm.
