The Nashua Silver Knights traveled to New Britain Stadium on Wednesday and dropped an 11-1 decision to the Bees via the mercy rule in seven innings.
Nashua took an early 1-0 lead in the first when Peter Keblinsky (University of Southern Maine) singled home Caleb Vacchiano (University of Southern Maine), but New Britain answered with two runs in the second on a Kacin Robinson (Stonehill) RBI triple and an Amato Civitello (UConn) sacrifice fly. The Bees blew the game open in the third with six runs, capped by a Civitello two-RBI double and a James Fagnant RBI single to make it 8-1. New Britain added runs in the fifth and seventh to trigger the mercy rule.
Civitello finished 2-for-2 with 3 RBI and a pair of sacrifice fly plays. Kacin Robinson added 2 RBI as well.
Jayson Serrano (ECSU) took the loss, allowing 8 runs in 2.2 innings. Eddie Charity (Southern NH) and Neil MacKinnon (Brown) each provided solid relief appearances.
The Silver Knights fall to 22-33 as the Bees improve to 36-20. Nashua returns home Thursday night to host the Westfield Starfires at Historic Holman Stadium at 6:03 pm.
