The Nashua Silver Knights traveled to Centennial Field in Burlington on Thursday night and dropped a 4-2 decision to the first-place Vermont Lake Monsters.
Nashua got on the board first in the top of the first when AJ Kolb (Towson) stole home on a double steal with Mike Villani (Stony Brook) to make it 1-0. Vermont answered in the second when Hunter Strohm (Mississippi State) drew an RBI walk to score Brenden Walsh (Endicott), then took the lead for good in the fourth on a Tyler Wiltsey (Rutgers) RBI single and a Strohm RBI triple to make it 3-1. Strohm added a fourth run in the sixth with an RBI double.
The Knights’ only other run came in the eighth when Mason Campagna (Penn State) scored on a double-play grounder.
Malcolm Klingler (Northeastern) took the loss, allowing 3 runs over 5 innings. Brandon Metivier (Bellarmine) tossed 3 solid innings in relief, allowing just 1 unearned run.
The Silver Knights fall to 15-15 as the Lake Monsters improve to 20-10. Nashua hits the road Friday night to take on the Lowell Spinners at 7:00 pm.
