The Nashua Silver Knights traveled to Dodd Stadium in Norwich on Friday night and dropped a 3-1 decision to the Sea Unicorns, extending their losing streak to seven games.
Mason Campagna (Penn State) gave Nashua its only lead with a solo home run in the fourth inning to make it 1-0. Norwich answered in the seventh when David Pengel (Northeastern) reached on an error, and Jake Howlett (Monmouth) advanced, leading to two unearned runs scoring on throwing errors. CJ Nolan (Sacred Heart) then doubled home Pengel to give the Sea Unicorns a 3-1 lead they wouldn’t relinquish.
Matthew Donovan (Roger Williams) was excellent, tossing 5.2 shutout innings. Michael Crowley (Assumption) and Neil MacKinnon (Brown) couldn’t hold it in the seventh. MacKinnon took the loss.
The Silver Knights fall to 20-27 as the Sea Unicorns improve to 21-24. Nashua hits the road tomorrow night to take on the Westfield Starfires at 6:30 pm.
