The Nashua Silver Knights traveled to Dodd Stadium in Norwich on Monday night and survived a late rally to win 5-3, extending their winning streak to five games and moving into fourth place in the FCBL standings.
Nashua broke through in the fifth inning, scoring all five of their runs. Tyson Gill (Clarion) hit a sacrifice fly, Phoenix Williams (Mount St. Mary’s) singled home a run, and Connor Smith (Gannon) followed with a two-run single to make it 5-0.
Norwich made things interesting in the eighth, with Kenny Noe (Monmouth) singling home two runs and Jack Treat (Bryant) adding a sacrifice fly to pull within 5-3. But Declan Wilkes (Lehigh) shut the door in the ninth, striking out the side to earn his first save of the season.
Ty Lohsen (Lasell) was outstanding in his start, tossing 6 shutout innings on just 2 hits to pick up the win. Matthew Donovan (Roger Williams) tossed a scoreless eighth in relief.
The Silver Knights improve to 14-14 as the Sea Unicorns fall to 12-15. Nashua returns home Tuesday night to host the Worcester Bravehearts at Historic Holman Stadium at 6:03 pm.
