The Nashua Silver Knights traveled to Billy Bullens Field in Westfield on Thursday night and dropped a 6-2 decision to the Starfires, unable to overcome a pair of multi-run innings by Westfield.

The Starfires struck in the third on a Ryan Ventrelle (Notre Dame) two-run home run to score Tommy Hennessey (UMass). Nashua cut it to 2-1 in the fifth when Adam Regan (Endicott) singled home Caleb Vacchiano (University of Southern Maine), but Westfield pulled away with two runs in the sixth on Easton Sanders (Louisiana Tech) RBI singles and two more in the seventh on another Sanders two-run single to make it 6-1. Hunter Troiano (Gannon) scored an unearned run in the ninth to set the final at 6-2.

Chase Carder (Wentworth Institute of Technology) took the loss, allowing 2 runs in 2.1 innings. Matt Walling (Salem State) earned the win, tossing 5 shutout innings with 8 strikeouts.

The Silver Knights fall to 22-30 as the Starfires improve to 18-30. Nashua returns home Saturday night to host the Vermont Lake Monsters at Historic Holman Stadium at 6:03 pm.
