The Nashua Silver Knights hosted the Norwich Sea Unicorns on Wednesday night at Historic Holman Stadium and dropped a 7-6 decision after giving up six runs in the seventh and eighth innings to blow a 6-1 lead.

Adam Regan (Endicott) got Nashua on the board in the fifth with a two-run home run to score Ben Peterson (Saint Joseph’s), and the Knights blew the game open in the sixth. Caleb Vacchiano (University of Southern Maine) doubled home three runs, and Phoenix Williams (Mount St. Mary’s) added an RBI single to make it 6-1.

Norwich fought back in the seventh, with Jackson Powers (St. Anselm) delivering a two-run single and Jake Howlett (Monmouth) adding a two-run single to make it 6-5. Powers then doubled home two more in the eighth to give the Sea Unicorns a 7-6 lead that held up.

Malcolm Klingler (Northeastern) was solid through 5 innings, allowing just 1 run. Zak Lussier (Misericordia) allowed 4 runs in 1.2 innings before Josh Martino (Southern NH) took the loss, giving up 2 more in the eighth.

The Silver Knights fall to 22-29 as the Sea Unicorns improve to 24-26. Nashua hits the road tomorrow night to take on the Westfield Starfires at 6:30 pm.
