The Nashua Silver Knights hosted the New Britain Bees on Friday night at Historic Holman Stadium and held on for a 9-6 win in a game that featured six lead changes and 15 combined runs after the third inning.

Nashua took an early lead in the third on a Caleb Vacchiano (University of Southern Maine) RBI single. New Britain answered in the fourth when Brady Chernovetz (Southern Connecticut State) singled home a run to tie it, but the Knights blew it open with four runs in the fourth, capped by a Hunter Troiano (Gannon) two-run single and a Ben Peterson (Saint Joseph’s) two-run single to make it 5-1. Nate Kearney (Stonehill) added another in the fifth to push the lead to 6-1.

The Bees fought back with three unearned runs in the sixth on a Chernovetz error play that scored three, then took the lead briefly in the seventh on two more unearned runs. Nashua responded in the bottom of the seventh, with Mason Wilson (Penn State) singling home a run, a Robby Grasso (Lehigh) fielder’s choice RBI, and another unearned run to go back ahead 9-6 for good.

Will Perkowski (University of Dayton) started and allowed just 1 run over 4 innings. Jameson Dobis (Bryant) picked up the win, and Aaron Forgues (Hobart) earned his fourth save of the season.

The Silver Knights improve to 18-18 as the Bees fall to 19-16. Nashua hits the road tomorrow at 5:00 pm to take on the Lowell Spinners.
