The Nashua Silver Knights hosted the Vermont Lake Monsters on Tuesday at Historic Holman Stadium and dropped both ends of a doubleheader, falling 4-0 in the opener and 10-2 in the nightcap as Vermont extended its winning streak to eight games.

In game one, neither team scored through three innings before Vermont broke through in the fourth on RBI hits from Zach Geertsma (Mississippi State), Jake Dunlap (Catawba), Hunter Strohm (Mississippi State), and James Henshon (Tufts) to go up 4-0. The Knights couldn’t muster a response, held to just 4 hits. Matthew Donovan (Roger Williams) started and allowed just 1 run over 3 innings, but Ty Lohsen (Lasell) gave up 3 runs in 3 innings of relief to take the loss.

Game two started promisingly for Nashua. Mason Wilson (Penn State) and Brendan Horne (VCU) each drove in runs in the fourth to give the Knights a 2-0 lead, and Malcolm Klingler (Northeastern) was dealing on the mound, striking out 6 batters over 4.1 innings while allowing just 1 run. Vermont, however, took over in the fifth and sixth, with Travis Stroh (Fairleigh Dickinson) hitting a two-run home run to tie it, then the Lake Monsters piling on eight runs in the sixth on RBI contributions from Jake Dunlap, Zach Geertsma, Tommy Popoff (Binghamton), Travis Stroh, Bryan Richman (Cal Poly Pomona), and Hunter Strohm to put the game away. Ryan Maiorano (Fairfield) took the loss after the sixth inning unraveled.

The Silver Knights fall to 17-18 as the Lake Monsters improve to 26-10. Nashua returns home Friday night to host the New Britain Bees at Historic Holman Stadium at 6:03 pm.
