The Nashua Silver Knights hosted the Norwich Sea Unicorns on Saturday night at Historic Holman Stadium and put up a big one, winning 11-1 via the mercy rule in seven innings.
Nashua got going early in the first, with Peter Keblinsky (University of Southern Maine) reaching on a fielder’s choice to score AJ Kolb (Towson), Hudson Story (Bryant) singling in Keblinsky, and a passed ball sending Keblinsky home to make it 3-0. Keblinsky added an RBI single in the second to push the lead to 4-1 after a Jackson Powers (St. Anselm) sacrifice fly got Norwich on the board.
The Knights kept building through the middle innings. Caleb Vacchiano (University of Southern Maine) stole home in the third, Kolb added an RBI single, and Connor Smith (Gannon) launched a solo home run in the fourth. Hunter Troiano (Gannon) added a sacrifice fly later in the frame to make it 8-1. Nashua tacked on three more in the fifth and sixth to trigger the mercy rule.
Kolb had a standout night at the plate, going 5-for-5 with 3 doubles and an RBI. Keblinsky drove in 3 runs.
Will Perkowski (University of Dayton) started and tossed 4 solid innings, allowing just 1 run. Brandon Metivier (Bellarmine) picked up the win with 3 scoreless innings of relief.
The Silver Knights improve to 12-14 as the Sea Unicorns fall to 12-14. Nashua hits the road Sunday afternoon to take on the New Britain Bees at 1:35 pm
