The Nashua Silver Knights hosted the New Britain Bees on Sunday afternoon at Historic Holman Stadium and dropped a 7-6 decision after giving up four runs in the seventh inning to blow a lead.
Nashua got things started quickly in the first when Connor Smith (Gannon) launched a two-run home run to give the Knights a 2-1 lead. Mike Villani (Stony Brook) added a sacrifice fly in the second to make it 3-1, and Phoenix Williams (Mount St. Mary’s) singled home a run in the fifth to push the lead to 4-2.
New Britain flipped the game in the seventh, scoring four times on an error, a Kacin Robinson (Stonehill) RBI single, an unearned run on a catcher’s error, and a wild pitch to go ahead 6-4. The Bees added an insurance run in the eighth on a Nico Amecangelo (LaSalle) RBI single.
Nashua made a push in the ninth on a Sam Gettinger (Stonehill) solo home run and a Hudson Story (Bryant) RBI single to pull within one, but couldn’t complete the comeback.
Josh Florence (Stonehill) took the loss, allowing 5 runs over 6 innings.
The Silver Knights fall to 19-19 as the Bees improve to 21-16. Nashua returns home tomorrow night for a 6:03 pm exhibition game against the Keene Swampbats of the NECBL
