The Nashua Silver Knights hosted the Vermont Lake Monsters on Tuesday night at Historic Holman Stadium in a game that got away from them early.
Nashua got on the board first, plating two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Phoenix Williams doubled to left center to score Hunter Troiano, and Hudson Story followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 2-0.
Vermont took the lead in the second inning and never looked back, putting up five runs to go ahead 5-2. The Lake Monsters kept adding on through the third, fourth, and fifth innings, building a lead the Knights could never overcome.
Hudson Story had a strong night for Nashua, going 3-for-4 with 4 RBI. Phoenix Williams added 4 hits, and Connor Smith drove in 3 runs, including a two-run home run in the fourth inning.
Malcolm Klingler took the loss for the Silver Knights, allowing 5 runs over 2 innings of work.
The Silver Knights fall to 2-3 as the Lake Monsters improve to 5-2. Nashua will be back in action tomorrow at 10:30 am at Historic Holman Stadium for Education Day, hosting the New Britain Bees.
