The Nashua Silver Knights traveled to New Britain Stadium on Thursday night and dropped a wild one to the Bees 9-8 on a walk-off wild pitch in the ninth inning, the first game back from the All-Star break.

Nashua took a 2-0 lead in the second when Nate Kearney (Stonehill) doubled home Caleb Vacchiano (University of Southern Maine) and Phoenix Williams (Mount St. Mary’s). The Knights extended the lead to 6-2 in the sixth on a Kearney RBI single, a Shanley Wall (Penn State) RBI walk, a Mason Wilson (Penn State) RBI walk, and an unearned run scored by Hunter Troiano (Gannon) on a New Britain throwing error.

New Britain chipped away, cutting it to 6-3 in the sixth on an unearned run, then tied it at 6-6 in the seventh on a wild pitch, an Amato Civitello (UConn) RBI groundout, and a George Slauson (UConn) RBI fielder’s choice. Nashua retook the lead at 8-6 in the eighth on a Wilson RBI single and a balk that scored Hunter Troiano. The Bees tied it again in the eighth on an AJ Montejano (Stonehill) RBI single and another Civitello RBI groundout. In the ninth, Vincent Lombardo (UConn) reached on an error, Montejano singled him to third, and a wild pitch walked it off 9-8.

Malcolm Klingler (Northeastern) started and allowed 2 runs over 5 innings. Jameson Dobis (Bryant) took the loss after allowing the walk-off run in the ninth.

The Silver Knights fall to 20-26 as the Bees improve to 25-18. Nashua returns to action today at Dodd Stadium in Norwich against the Sea Unicorns at 6:30 pm.
