The Nashua Silver Knights traveled to LeLacheur Park on Tuesday night and beat the Lowell Spinners 7-1.
Nashua struck first in the second inning when Hudson Story (Bryant) doubled home Nate Kearney (Stonehill), but Lowell responded in the bottom half on a Ryan O’Leary RBI single to tie it at 1. The Knights retook the lead for good in the third on a double play that still allowed Phoenix Williams (Mount St. Mary’s) to score.
Nashua tacked on two more in the fifth on RBI hits from Tyson Gill (Clarion) and Peter Keblinsky (University of Southern Maine) to make it 4-1. The Knights pulled away in the eighth when Phoenix Williams doubled home two runs, and added a final run in the ninth on a Nate Kearney stolen base and a Lowell throwing error to set the final at 7-1.
Malcolm Klingler (Northeastern) picked up the win, tossing 5 innings and striking out 7 while allowing just 1 run. Ryan Maiorano (Fairfield) and Bryce McCleland combined for 4 scoreless innings of relief to close it out.
The Silver Knights improve to 8-10 as the Spinners fall to 5-13. Nashua hits the road tomorrow night to take on the New Britain Bees at 6:35 pm.
