The Nashua Silver Knights traveled to Dodd Stadium on Tuesday night and dropped a tough extra-innings game to the Norwich Sea Unicorns 7-6, blowing a two-run lead in the tenth.
Nashua took a 2-0 lead through five innings on a Hunter Troiano (Gannon) RBI double in the first and a wild pitch that scored Mason Wilson (Penn State) in the fifth. Norwich tied it in the fifth on a TJ Baer (Marist) RBI double and then flipped the game in the seventh, scoring three times to take a 4-2 lead on RBI hits from Kenny Noe (Monmouth), Matt Park (Quinnipiac), and a Jackson Powers (St. Anselm) sacrifice fly.
Nashua fought back, with Connor Smith (Gannon) singling home a run in the eighth and Wilson scoring on a balk in the ninth to tie it at 4. The Knights took a 6-4 lead in the tenth on a Hudson Story (Bryant) sacrifice fly and an unearned run on a throwing error, but Norwich responded immediately. Kenny Noe singled home two runs and TJ Baer walked it off with an RBI single to end it 7-6.
Matthew Donovan (Roger Williams) was sharp, tossing 4 scoreless innings. Aaron Forgues (Hobart) threw 2.2 innings of solid relief before Josh Martino took the loss in the tenth.
The Silver Knights fall to 19-20 as the Sea Unicorns improve to 18-22. Nashua returns home Wednesday night to host the Worcester Bravehearts at Historic Holman Stadium at 6:03 pm.
