The Nashua Silver Knights traveled to New Britain Stadium on Thursday night and dropped an 8-4 decision to the Bees, falling to 20-21 on the season.
New Britain jumped out quickly, scoring twice in the first inning on a George Slauson (Saint Anselm) RBI double and a Davis Hanson (Yale) RBI single. The Bees added another in the third on a second Slauson double to lead 3-0.
Nashua cut into the deficit in the fourth when Hudson Story (Bryant) doubled home Caleb Vacchiano (University of Southern Maine) to make it 3-1, and Shanley Wall (Penn State) made her presence felt with a pair of base hits, adding to the Knights’ 10-hit effort. Peter Keblinsky (University of Southern Maine) added a two-run single in the fifth to pull within one at 3-2, but New Britain pulled away with three more runs in the fifth and sixth innings, including RBI contributions from AJ Montejano and Deacon Brown (St. John’s).
Ty Lohsen (Lasell) took the loss, allowing 2 runs over 2 innings. Brody Bump (Millersville) and Bryce McCleland (Fisher College) provided solid relief but the Knights couldn’t overcome the early deficit.
The Silver Knights fall to 20-21 as the Bees improve to 23-17. Nashua returns home tomorrow night to host the Worcester Bravehearts at Historic Holman Stadium at 6:03 pm.
