The Nashua Silver Knights hosted the Worcester Bravehearts on Tuesday night at Historic Holman Stadium in a back-and-forth affair that went ten innings, with Nashua walking it off 8-7 to push their winning streak to five games.
Worcester jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first on RBI contributions from Hunter St. Denis (via sacrifice fly), Gabe Malaret (Boston College), and Cade Centracchio. The Bravehearts added a fourth run in the fourth on a Jake Yang double before Nashua started chipping away.
The Knights scored twice in the third on sacrifice flies from Hunter Troiano (Gannon) and Caleb Vacchiano (University of Southern Maine), then tied it at 4 in the fifth when Vacchiano singled home two runs, and Peter Keblinsky (University of Southern Maine) added a sacrifice fly to make it 5-4, Nashua.
Worcester tied it in the eighth on a wild pitch, then took the lead in the tenth on another wild pitch that scored Talen Rosborough (Quinnipiac). Jake Yang followed with a two-run double to make it 7-5.
Nashua responded immediately. Peter Keblinsky singled home Hunter Troiano to make it 7-6, then Jordan Welch (Stony Brook) singled home two more to cap the comeback and send the crowd home happy.
Michael Crowley (Assumption) was sharp in relief, tossing 2 scoreless innings with 5 strikeouts. Ryan Maiorano (Fairfield) followed with 3 strong innings, allowing just 1 run while striking out 6. Jameson Dobis (Bryant) picked up the win in extras.
The Silver Knights improve to 15-14 as the Bravehearts fall to 17-11. Nashua hits the road Thursday night to take on the Vermont Lake Monsters at 6:35 pm.
