The Knights were back in action tonight at Holman Stadium, hosting the Norwich Sea Unicorns to wrap up their home-and-home series. In the previous matchup, Nashua battled hard but fell just short of a comeback. Unfortunately, the story remained the same on their home turf, as the Knights dropped their second straight game, losing 8–3 in front of the home crowd.
The big stat in this ballgame was the 3rd inning where the difference was as Norwich capitalized on their chances and got five whole runs across the board versus starter Justin Dressler and Kevin Rourke who came out of the bullpen. The inning would start as a disaster as the first four out of five batters would draw aboard, clogging the bases.
In the 4th and 5th innings, it was less of an explosion for Norwich however they still managed to get a run across in both innings. The Knights’ offense would start up in the 7th inning as Will Shaheen and Jack Kidwell would both single. They were both driven in by Cole Patterson as the Knights got their first runs of the game.
Nashua would put one more up on the board in the 9th however it was not enough. The 3rd inning proved to be the difference in tonight’s game and if the Knights keep allowing big innings they will be in some trouble. That was the difference tonight and last night in the big innings. If the Knights can correct this they will be a force to be reckoned with. They will be back in action at home tomorrow on the 4th of July.
