The Nashua Silver Knights remained on the road Sunday afternoon, still in search of a much-needed win as they entered their matchup against the New Britain Bees, riding a nine-game losing streak.
Despite a solid overall effort, Nashua’s offense couldn’t find its rhythm, managing just one run in the game. The Knights fell 4–1 on the road, extending their losing streak to ten straight games.
Offensively, Nashua was unable to get much going; however, in the first inning, they would score their lone run of the game as Jake Haarde would knock in Brenden Walsh on a single to put Nashua up early.
Nashua’s pitching would improve in the game as their arms pitched well however they did not get support from the offense. Caden Smith would get the start and give the Knights three innings, as he allowed two runs in the loss. Following Smith, Hunter Ward would come in and have a tough 4th inning as the Bees were able to score two runs on a Brennan Staubley double to the gap. Following the 4th, the score was 4-1 Bees.
The Knights’ bullpen following Ward would do well, as they were able to keep the New Britans’ offense at bay. Josh Florence would toss three innings, and Brandon Metivier would also throw one to round out the day for the Knights on the mound.
The pitching, however, for New Britain was too great for the Knights to overcome, as following the first, they would go scoreless. A combined five pitchers threw in this game for the home side, and they had the right recipe as Nashua would end up falling for a tenth straight game. The Knights will have a big off-day tomorrow as they look to regroup and get back to their winning ways.
