The boys of Nashua were back in action on a hot summer night, hitting the road to take on the New Britain Bees. After dramatically walking off the Bees on July 4th, the Knights came into the game with confidence and momentum. But this time, the magic ran out. Despite a competitive start, Nashua couldn’t keep up late and dropped the game 7–4.
Nashua from the start played well however there were moments that they would have liked to have back in this ballgame. Ethan Hunt would get the start and he would let up a run in the first inning however from there he was great as he would toss the following three innings without allowing a run to the Bees.
Nashua would also get Hunt some help in the 5th as they were able to start a logjam on the bases. The inning would start with Joey Current and Jack Kidwell drawing aboard and they would come around later to score in the inning with Chase Rorberts’ at-bat. This resulted in the Knights putting two runs on the board and taking a 2-1 lead.
Trouble came in the 6th however as New Britain got to Hunt as they pushed ahead with two runs which knocked Hunt out of the game. The Bees would score two more runs in both the 7th and 8th innings to really make the difference in the ballgame as Nashua was only able to counter with a run in both of those innings.
This was a tight ballgame however for Nashua the pitching following Hunt was sub-par and did not allow for the offense to have a comeback bid in the late innings. Nashua was led by Current who went 2-4 in the game. The Knights will be back in play tomorrow.
