New Britain, CT – The Nashua Silver Knights fell on the road to the New Britain Bees, who were propelled by three runs of offense along with lockdown pitching and defense to secure a 5–0 victory.
The Bees were powered by a huge third inning that propelled them to the victory. In the inning, they were able to plate three runs as Brennan Staubley would double in two runs to start the frame. They would also tack on one more as the Knights would walk in a run as the Bees loaded the bases.
For Nashua, their pitching staff would work well at times; however, they would run into trouble in the 3rd, as mentioned, and in the 8th. Tommy Flaherty would get the start and throw well, minus the 3rd as he tallied 4 IP in the loss. The star of the day, however, for Nashua was Connecticut native Rob Gilchrist. In relief, the righty would toss four shutout innings of baseball to keep his team in the ballgame and give the offense time to produce some runs.
The offense, however, for the Knights would tally seven hits in this game; however, they would not be able to get a run across to score. Notably, this game also saw the return of Ernie Little, who at one point was atop the futures league in average.
The Knights are now a few games behind the Bees as they look to make their final push towards the playoffs, which will start after Saturday’s game. It has been a tale of two halves for the Knights; however, they will look to salvage a few games and provide a playoff appearance for their fans and city.
