It was another grind-it-out battle at Holman Stadium tonight as the Nashua Silver Knights hosted the Westfield Starfires. In a classic pitcher’s duel, the Knights leaned on sharp pitching, solid defense, and one timely hit to edge out a hard-fought 1–0 win.

With their second straight shutout, Nashua continues to build momentum—stacking wins that could pay big dividends come playoff time.

The pitching was key all game as there was little offense to talk about for both teams. For Nashua however, their scoring would start right away as their lone run came in the 1st inning. Anthony Grabau would draw aboard in the inning to get a runner on and he would later come across to score on a Joey Current single to give the Knights an early 1-0 lead.

The pitching staff for Nashua had a lead and they did not give it up as Nate Kelleher-Mochak went back out in the top of the 2nd and continued to pitch well as he would go for five innings in this game and give up no runs on five hits.

Westfield’s pitching following the first was also great as Greg Strite pitched a great game for them as he was able to go 4 and ⅔ innings on just the one run with a staggering eight strikeouts. Their bullpen would also come to work following their starter as a combined three pitchers threw three more innings of shutout ball to keep the Nashua lead at one.

Following Kelleher-Mochak the Knights’ bullpen also went to work on the hill as Rob Gilchrist would throw three scoreless innings which set up for the closer Brandon Metivier to come in in the 9th for the save. Metivier was perfect in the last frame as he was able to get all three Starfires in order as he sealed the win for the Knights in a pitching duel.
