Following two days of rainouts at the end of their road trip, the Nashua Silver Knights returned to Holman Stadium looking to make a statement. Facing the Westfield Starfires, the Knights would be looking to get a key victory as they make a late-season push towards the playoffs.

Nashua in this game would play well; however, their offense was not there as they would get shut out by a score of 4-0. The Knights are now a few games back of the last playoff spot as the season hits a week left to go.

The Knights’ pitching would do their job in this game, as between their three pitchers in this game, they would only give up four runs in total. Scott Longo would get the start and be able to turn in four innings of work, as he only gave up two runs. Both would come in the 3rd on a Cole Silvia double to the gap.

Following Longo, the Knights would turn to Ethan Hunt. He would turn out almost an identical outing to the starter as he, too, went four innings, only giving up two runs on the day. Both runs that Hunt let up: one in the 6th and one in the 7th, would both come on singles.

Offensively, the bats would not be there for Nashua as they were only able to tally one hit on the day. Nolan Geiser was great for the Starfires as he threw five innings, not allowing a hit while having six punchouts. The Knights would break up the combined no-hitter for Westfield in the 8th however on a Brendan Walsh single. The Westfield bullpen was there all night, as they combined for four innings of shutout ball to secure the win on the road.

The Knights now fall to eight games below .500 as they sit at 23-31 on the year. This season has been a tale of two halves; however, the second half is still salvageable as the Knights are not out of the playoff hunt just yet. They will be back at home tomorrow versus the Worcester Bravehearts.
