Fresh off a thrilling walk-off win on America’s birthday, the Nashua Silver Knights hit the road and traveled to the Green Mountain State for a business trip to take on the Vermont Lake Monsters. Riding the momentum of their patriotic victory, the Knights — currently sitting third in the Futures League standings — looked to steal a key win on the road and keep climbing the leaderboard.

Nashua got started right where they left off on Friday and were able to cap off another thrilling victory on the road at Vermont 9 – 4.

The Knights would start this game slowly; however, they would heat up quickly. Andrew Chenevert got the ball for the Knights and he breezed through his first two innings allowing no runs. In the 3rd however, the Lake Monsters would get something working. The rally for Vermont all started with two outs as Bryan Richman drew aboard. Shaun McMillan would then step up to the plate and continue to crush the ball as a double into the gap. McMillan was then driven in by Hunter Kingsbury to make the lead 2-0 for Vermont. They were not done yet in the frame as they would add one more before Chenevert could get the third out.

The Nashua offense however would respond in the top of the 4th as they also started a rally. Will Burns and Joe Zorc would both get aboard which allowed for Joey Current to drive in both runners along with himself as he homered to tie the ballgame and put the Knights right back in it.

Nashua kept on chugging in the 5th as Current would break the draw with a single to score Jack Balcer and Burns and increase the Knights’ lead to one. They would plate one more before Vermont would score again as this time in the 7th Current would drive in Balcer again this time on a sacrifice fly.

Following the 3rd Chenevert would lock in on the mound. He wouldn’t have any more significant struggles however he did let up another run in the 7th to give Vermont their fourth run of the game. His final stat line for the night was 7 IP, 4 ER on 1 SO.

Following Chenevert’s exit the Knights’ offense kept humming as they worked to keep the lead big for the newly brought in Josh Florence. They would add more to their scoring total in the 9th as Nigel Sebastianelli joined the RBI party as he singled in Joe Zorcto to make the score 9-4 and give the Knights a big advantage.

Florence would do his job on the mound as he tossed a scoreless 8th and 9th to earn the Knights a big victory on the road in Vermont. This was a game where hitting and pitching were both there for the Knights and that’s what earned them the win. They will be back in action tomorrow as they look to make it three straight victories.
