Home sweet home for the Silver Knights, as they returned to Holman Stadium after a tough road trip that didn’t go their way. Looking to reset and spark some momentum, Nashua aimed to open their homestand with a statement win against the visiting Westfield Starfires.

 

The Knights in this one would get going early as the offense came back to life following a week where they were subpar. In the second inning, Will Burns singled to start the inning. Then Will Shaheen and Cole Patterson would both get on base and Burns would come around to score on Patterson’s at-bat. The Knights would not be done as they would add on. Ernie Little would then double into the gap to score two runs and give the Knights a 3-0 lead early, setting the tempo for the game.

 

The Starfires offense was held at bay to start this one as Andrew Chenevert would go five innings allowing only a run to cross the plate as he tossed a gem. On top of that, he would have five strikeouts in his outing. In the sixth, the Starfires would keep going as they cut the lead to one on a bases-loaded hit by a pitch. The Knights would get out of the inning however only allowing a run.

 

In the bottom half of the inning, the Knights kept going. River Hart launched a ball over the fence for a two-run homer, giving the Knights a three-run lead. In the seventh, the Knights kept it coming, as Burns singled in a run to make the score 6-2.

 

The offense would just be getting started as in the eighth they exploded. Little would come across to score to start the inning. The next batter Hart would then continue his hot game as he doubled into the gap to clear the bases and give the home side a 10-2 lead. The Starfires would get one in the ninth however it was too little too late as the Knights got back in the win column. Hart was the catalyst, finishing with two hits and 5 RBIs on the night. The bullpen also shined again as they let up and earned a run in two innings. The Knights will be back in action at home tomorrow on fathers day.
