Three straight losses, including being swept in a doubleheader in New Britain, pinned the Silver Knights in a tough position. With only three games left in their season on Friday, Nashua was running out of time to end their season on a high note. As the Rox came into town, the Knights had a prime opportunity on their hands to get back in the win column.

Unable to fire on all cylinders as of late, the Knights would piece it all together in a mercy win over Brockton 16-1. A five-run third and seven-run fourth inning allowed Nashua to run away with the win and to take the season series against the Rox 8-4.

Six different Silver Knights would post multi-RBI nights, with three of them posting three. Clark’s Ryan Caulfield went 2-5 with three RBI at the top of the lineup, with Northeastern’s Will Fosberg and New England College’s Luca Giallongo combining for six hits and six RBI.

Nashua would post a hefty 14 hits on the night, but most of the damage would come via bases on balls. Brockton would walk seven in the game, including seven free passes via walks and hit-by-pitches in the fourth inning. Two of the three Brockton arms would give up five or more earned runs in a night to forget for the ballclub.

For Nashua on the bump, Vanderbilt’s Nik Copenhaver tossed five innings with only three hits on one earned run. Copenhaver, in his sixth appearance of the summer, got his first win in what was easily his best outing of the season. Brown’s Stiles Begnaud would come in for two innings of work to close it out, tossing two hitless frames with four strikeouts in the seven-inning mercy-shortened ballgame.

Nashua now has a feel-good win under their belt heading into the weekend with two games left on their calendar. On Saturday, the Knights will head to Norwich for their final road game of the year. Nashua and the Sea Unicorns are set for a 6:30 PM first pitch tomorrow night.
