Knights Drop Resumed Game in VT

Saturday, July 29, 2023

After a historic night at Holman Stadium on Friday, the Silver Knights hit the road for a busy weekend up in Burlington, Vermont. Riding the high of Friday’s win, Nashua looked to use the momentum to get back into Saturday’s resumed game from July 14th with the Knights in a 4-0 hole. Yet, despite carrying a hot two-game win streak, the Knights went out softly to the Lake Monsters in a 5-1 loss.

Back on July 14th, the Lake Monsters would jump on the Knights early with four runs in the first. As Mother Nature forced the rest of the ballgame to the 29th, a quiet night at the plate for Nashua made the deficit feel insurmountable. With the continuation starting after the fourth, the Knights only posted two hits with one run coming across.

On the other side of the ball, Nashua did their all to keep the score at four. Endicott’s Kyan Bagshaw was excellent to start off, tossing three scoreless frames. Vermont would finally break through in the eighth, bringing one in off Nichols’s Brandon Metivier.

Nashua would finally get something going in the eighth, with Eastern Nazarene’s Shane McNamara doubling home Amherst’s Jack McDermott after his one-out single. McNamara’s two-bagger puts him at 38 RBIs on the season, leading the Futures League.

Besides McNamara’s knock, the Knights would go quietly in the final frames as Vermont would take game one of Nashua and the Lake Monsters’ four-game stretch.

Nashua and Vermont are set for another makeup tomorrow, gearing up for a doubleheader. Game one of the Sunday double billing is set for 4:05 PM.
