Knights Fall in PittsfieldThe Nashua Silver Knights traveled to Pittsfield to play the top ranked Suns. Patrick Harrington (Assumption) started on the mound for Nashua, pitching four complete innings and striking out
two batters.
The Suns opened up the game with a solo home run from Mark Coley to get on the board early
in the first inning. Benjamin Cowles (Maryland) started the fourth inning off strong for the
Knights with a double to left field but was left on base as three quick outs followed. The bottom
of the fourth inning was a strong showing for Pittsfield with four hits and three runs.
The Knights started to battle back in the top of the sixth as Dylan Jones (Franklin Pierce) was
able to score on double to left field from Cowles (Maryland). The Knights began to rally in the
seventh with three hits and two walks. The inning ended with bases loaded and three players
left on base. The Suns responded with another home run by Mark Coley to score two.
Once again, the Knights fought back in the eighth inning with runs scored by Luis Atiles (New
England College) and Kyle Sandstrom (Charleston Southern). Unfortunately, this was not
enough to hold off the Suns, who scored another run in the bottom of the eighth to secure the
win.
The Knights move to 12-11 on the season and will be back at Holman Stadium Friday night at
6:45 p.m. to take on the Bristol Blues for a rematch of Monday night’s game. |
